Taff Davies – Head Coach

 

With a wealth of Martial Arts knowledge, Taff is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the training here at The Arena. A BJJ Black Belt under 6 x World Champion, Robert Drysdale, Taff is committed and passionate about his students and their development. Taff is the first BJJ practitioner in history to have his Black Belt recognised and confirmed by not only Robert Drysdale, but also the legendary Royler Gracie and Rodrego “Comprido” Mediros.

 

Taff also has experience in Aikido, Judo, Boxing and Muai Thai.

 

As a former member of The Australian Army, Taff has served with both The Australian SAS and The 2nd Commando Regiment, here in Australian as well as a number of overseas duties. This, coupled with 12 years frontline service as a uniformed Police Officer, Detective and Police Instructor ensures a practical and pragmatic approach to the training here at The Arena.

 

Taff is also one of the country’s most qualified military un-armed combat instructors and maintaining a regular commitment training elite soldiers at The Integrated Combat Centre in Sydney, Australia’s military centre of excellence for un-armed combat, a unique honour not shared by any other civilian instructor in the country.

 

Taff has also been flown to the USA to provide specialist instruction for US military and Law Enforcement Agencies.

 

Taff holds a Cert IV’s in Training and Assessment, Coaching, Health and Fitness, Security Operations, OH&S as well as numerous other qualifications in other fields.

 

He is also one of Australia’s first qualified Crossfit instructors, a qualified Kettlebell instructor and a military combat fitness leader.

 

Taffs other passions include snowboarding and skydiving.
